In winter, skiers flock to the Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort—ranked the 7th Best Mountain Resort in the nation by Skiing Magazine--- for its main attraction: 4,350 vertical feet of world-class skiing spread across 5,512 acres and 220 trails on three interconnected mountains with 400 annual inches of snowfall. Not a vertical junkie? No worries: Other winter activities include snowshoeing, sleigh rides, terrain and tubing parks, ice-skating, snowmobiling and spa-ing!
In summer, visitors enjoy the close proximity of Yellowstone National Park—the West Entrance is just 48 miles to the south—with its magnificent natural wonders and plentiful opportunities for hiking, discovery and wildlife watching. Or, for a more intimate experience, you can explore the Lee Metcalf Wilderness area, go rock climbing or head out on your mountain bike. But that’s not all. Big Sky’s 18-hole Palmer designed golf course rewards players with breath-taking views, while the nearby Gallatin River provides great rafting and gold-medal fly-fishing.
After a day spent in the great Montana outdoors, guests can unwind at one of the town’s two dozen restaurants, bars and eateries, or shop among a terrific selection of stores featuring everything from antiques and fine art to clothing, books, collectibles and jewelry.
